About this site
Safer Dates is an awareness movement created by Skip Dating, Inc. This website lets you take a voluntary pledge, share it, and access tools and information that support safer first dates. By using the site, you agree to these terms.
The pledge is voluntary
Taking the pledge is a personal, voluntary commitment. It is not a contract, it is not verified by us, and it creates no legal obligation on you or on anyone else. Pledges are self-reported and counted anonymously.
No guarantee of safety
A background check is one screening layer. It cannot guarantee anyone's safety, confirm a person's intentions, or predict future behaviour, and available records may be incomplete. Nothing on this site is a promise that any person or any date will be safe. Always use your own judgement.
Not emergency or professional advice
Safer Dates is not a crisis service and does not provide legal, medical, or counselling advice. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. The organizations listed on our resources page are independent of Safer Dates.
Third-party services
This site links to services we do not control, including the Skip app, the merchandise store, and the mobile app stores. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies, not these.
Advocate listings
If you submit a profile for the Safer Dating Advocates directory, you confirm the information is yours and that you agree to it being displayed publicly. Every submission is reviewed by hand before publication, and listings can be updated or removed on request. We may decline or remove a listing at our discretion.
Content and trademarks
The content, design, and branding of this site belong to Skip Dating, Inc. You are welcome to share the pledge, the movement graphics, and the campaign message for the purpose of supporting the movement.
Limitation of liability
To be finalized by counsel before launch. This section should set out the applicable limitations of liability, disclaimers of warranty, and the governing jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
